Rack Design, Build & Cleanup
Professional rack builds, cable management overhauls, and hot-cut migrations - transforming disorganized racks into clean, documented, and maintainable systems built to industry best practice.
Professional Rack Organization & Design
A disorganized rack is more than an eyesore - it is an operational liability. Tangled cables obscure port labels, block airflow, increase troubleshooting time, and make simple adds/moves/changes into multi-hour projects. In environments where uptime matters, messy racks cost real money.
Cable Weave Inc. transforms chaotic racks into clean, organized, and fully documented systems. Whether you need a single rack cleaned up, a new communications room built from scratch, or a complete server room re-cabled with zero downtime, our rack specialists deliver results that your operations team will appreciate every day.
Every rack project begins with a detailed assessment of your current state, documentation of all active connections, and a migration plan designed to minimize or eliminate downtime. We follow industry best practice for cable management - proper bend radius, color-coded patching, structured cable routing through vertical and horizontal managers, and comprehensive labeling on every port, patch cable, and equipment chassis.
Rack Build Process
All rack builds and cleanups follow industry best practice. Equipment is mounted with proper weight distribution, grounding, and adequate ventilation spacing. Cable management includes horizontal and vertical cable managers, proper bend radius protection, and Velcro tie management (never zip ties on data cables). Every port is labeled with a standardized naming convention, and complete rack elevation diagrams are delivered at handover.
Rack Services We Provide
New Rack Builds
Complete rack assembly from ground up - cabinet placement, PDU installation, grounding, equipment mounting, patch panel termination, cable management, and full documentation.
Rack Cleanup
Systematic re-organization of existing racks - removing dead cables, re-routing active cables through cable managers, replacing damaged patch cords, and applying standardized labeling.
Hot-Cut Migration
Planned migration of active connections from old infrastructure to new with minimal or zero downtime. Each connection is documented, migrated, tested, and verified before the next one moves.
Documentation
Complete rack elevation diagrams, port-by-port labeling schedules, cable color-code legends, equipment inventory, and before/after photography delivered digitally at handover.
Our 4-Step Process
Site Survey
Walk the space, identify pathways, obstructions, and fire-rated barriers, and confirm drop locations with the end-user - not just the floor plan.
Engineered Design
Drop schedule, rack elevations, pathway routing, TR/IDF layouts, bill of materials, and a drawing set your GC and electrician can build against.
Coordination
Align with electrical, mechanical, ceiling, and drywall trades so cable pulls happen in the right sequence - before ceilings close and after power is safe.
Rough-In
Pull, route, and support cable in open ceilings and walls. All cables bundled, fire-stopped at penetrations, J-hooks or cable tray - never on ceiling tile.
Termination & Dress
Punch down to patch panels and outlets, label clearly, dress racks, and lace cable bundles.
Test & Certify
Every link tested with Fluke DSX. Failures re-terminated or re-pulled until the entire plant passes.
As-Built Hand-Over
Floor plans with outlet IDs, rack elevations, test result PDFs, warranty registration, and a close-out package your IT team can actually use.
Project Gallery
Real installations from our team across Canada.
Why Choose Cable Weave for Rack Services
Every project is designed for performance, documented for clarity, and installed to last.
Zero-Downtime Capable
Hot-cut migration planning ensures your critical systems stay online throughout the rack transition - tested and verified at every step.
Complete Documentation
Rack elevations, port maps, cable schedules, color-code legends, and before/after photos - everything your team needs to maintain the rack.
Industry Best Practices
Proper bend radius, Velcro management (never zip ties), structured cable routing, and standardized labeling.
Fast Turnaround
Most single-rack cleanups completed in one day. Multi-rack projects scheduled to minimize disruption to your operations.
