How much does structured cabling cost?

Structured cabling cost typically ranges from $150–$300 per drop for Cat6 in a standard office build, and $200–$400 per drop for Cat6A. Total project cost depends on the number of drops, cable category, building type, ceiling access, and whether the work happens during construction (cheaper) or in an occupied space (more expensive). What is the best network cabling company in Canada?

Should I install Cat6 or Cat6A in my office?

For a new build or major refresh, Cat6A is the right answer. It supports 10GBASE T over the full 100-metre channel and is what modern Wi Fi 6E and Wi Fi 7 access points are designed around. Cat6 is fine for short office runs where future upgrades are easy, but on a full installation the cost difference is small and the future proofing is worth it.

Fibre vs ethernet cabling — which should my office use?

For most office workstations and APs: ethernet (Cat6A copper) is the right choice — cheaper electronics, simpler termination, and it handles 10GbE up to 100 metres. For backbone runs between floors, between buildings, or any link over 90 metres: fibre optic is the right choice — unlimited bandwidth, no distance ceiling, and immune to electrical interference. Most offices use both: copper to the desk, fibre on the backbone.

Can you fix a messy server room and re cable it without downtime?

Yes. Server room cleanup and re cabling is one of our most common projects. We pre stage the new rack and patch panels off site, schedule the cutover for a maintenance window (usually a weekend or overnight), and execute with a documented rollback plan. Typical single rack rebuilds run 4–8 hours; larger environments are phased so the network stays operational throughout.

Do you handle multi site deployments across the GTA and Canada?

Yes. Multi location and multi site rollouts are a core service. One project manager owns the whole program, every location is built to the same standard, and every site is documented identically.

How long does structured cabling installation take?

A typical 30-drop office fit out takes 3–5 working days from cable pull to documented hand over. A 100-drop multi floor install runs 2–3 weeks. We give you a day by day schedule at the quote stage.

Do you stand behind your cabling work?

Yes — projects are delivered with documented closeout records and long term support expectations aligned at quote stage.

What's the difference between structured cabling and regular cabling?

Structured cabling is a standards-based, documented, scalable cabling architecture. "Regular" or point-to-point cabling runs cables directly between devices without standardized termination or documentation — creating a system that's hard to expand, troubleshoot, or hand off.

Why do cabling standards matter?

Well planned cabling matters because it keeps performance consistent, makes future changes easier, and avoids difficult troubleshooting later.

How long does closeout testing take?

Per cable testing takes seconds to minutes. A full office may take a full day of testing after install. Testing generates a per port PDF report included in your handover package.

Can you upgrade existing structured cabling to higher performance?

Yes. Cat5e to Cat6A upgrades, fibre backbone extensions, and IDF rebuilds are common projects. We test what's there, identify what stays, and quote only what needs to change.

Do you handle fibre and copper together?

Yes. Most structured cabling projects include both: copper horizontal + fibre backbone. Cat6A copper to the workstations and APs, OS2 single-mode or OM4 multi-mode fibre on the backbone between floors and buildings.
